I have started to get a good prize list going to encourage people to attend. the angling magazines are being very supportive as is Andy Miller at Eyebrook.
I have got Charles Jardine saying he will attend ( not sure whether he will fish) however I know Arthur thought a lot of the Leicester fly fishers which is why i wanted to let you know early. hope some of you can attend.
all the best , dave oates
ps. the whole point is we would like to get a memorial bench put up at eyebrook, with any excess money going to england youth fishing aasoc. and rainbow childrens hospice.
tickets will be £30 adult, £26 oap, £21 junior, that is putting £11 on top of Eyebrook ticket prices.
first prize is a box of Arthurs own flies and a rod. i have about 12 prizes at moment. just been given a £85 Flylogic reel!
sportfish £50 voucher, a boat and two rods on eyebrook. etc
Probably best to contact Eyebrook in the first instance or I can pass on an email address for Dave Oates via PM if requested. __________________

Seighford Lakes Week ending 21st Feburary 2010
Trout fishing With weather still failing to warm during the past week, it hasn't seemed to have affected the fishing here at Seighford. With frosts almost every night we have been busy every morning clearing ice so anglers are able to fish. The aerator in the Swan Neck Pool has had two advantages this week, not only is is preventing ice forming on the lodge end of the pool, but it is also attracting trout into that area of the lake. The pegs nearest to the lodge have produced a lot of sport this week. Derbyshire based angler Renso Delrossi had the best bag of the week with 10 trout up to 7lb. Renso caught all his fish out of the Swan Neck Pool on gold headed Cruncher on a floating line. Best Fish of the week went to Gary Owen, who landed a 11lb 10oz specimen off the Railway Pool.

Gary took the fish after fishing for only 15 minutes, he tempted this monster on static Bloodworm set at 5 foot. He also added a further 8 fish to his days fishing.
Coarse Fishing Finally some Carp have been caught out of the Old Pool this week. Peg 2 chucked up half a dozen Carp on Friday. The fish were taken on double red maggot on a size 16 hook. Alot of fish have been showing up in the reeds and out on the barr that runs off the island in the middle of the pool. Method feeders and pole have been the best tactics this week, feeding very little seems to have been the way forward this week. THE OLD POOL WILL BE CLOSED ON MARCH 6TH 2010, DUE TO A CLUB BOOKING! The Horseshoe Pool will still be available for fishing. A stocking of 6,000 Roach have gone into the Horseshoe Pool, the fish range from 2" up to 8". This is sure to keep bites coming during these cold months. We do welcome clubs to our waters, bookings can be arranged over the phone. To book in ring us on the lodge phone on 01785 28296
Seighford Lakes PRESS RELEASE (Week ending 14/02/2010)
| Trout Fishing
Yet another cold week, with the lakes still trying to freeze over, we have had to keep the aerators on almost every night to prevent ice forming. Some excellent fish have been caught over the past couple of days. Barry Love becoming a regular in our fishing reports proved his skills again this week. Barry Hooked and landed the biggest fish of the week, tipping the scales at a whopping 16lb 2oz.

"It gave up an incredible fight, best fish I've had in a long time" he added,Barry also landed another double out of the same spot, he estimated it to be around the 12-13lb mark. He fished an intermediate line using a black and green lure, he took all his fish from the Railway Pool. He finished the day on an impressive 29 Trout.

John Cooper also had a nice sized fish from the Railway Pool, it weighed 7lb dead.
Flies that are catching this week are mainly all lures, black, green and white being the main colour's.
Floating lines and very slow sinking lines are both taking fish. Seighford Lakes Fishery is now a registered Troutmasters water, the best 3 fish of the month will earn you a badge and you will be entered into a fish off at the end of the year, the winner of the match will get an invitation to fish at the Final.

With the cold weather still refusing to go away, the carp still aren't feeding properly. The silverfish are still showing all over the lakes. Pegs 4 and 5 have fished the best this week, 6 metres out using bread punch has been the best method. Maggots are still pulling fish out from peg 2, feeding little and often seems to be working the best.A stocking of 6,000 Roach have gone into the Horseshoe Pool, the fish range from 2" up to 8". This is sure to keep bites coming during these cold months. We do welcome clubs to our waters, bookings can be arranged over the phone. To book in ring us on the lodge phone on 01785 282967 .

Trout Fishing With the cold weather still refusing to go away, good fishing has took place all week. Another stocking of fish went into both lakes on Friday. Fish up to around the 10lb mark were dropped in both lakes. Both lakes were cleared of ice on Saturday morning, and fished well from the off. Kevin Barley started on the Railway Pool, he took a few fish there on a white and green lure. He then ventured back to the Swan Neck Pool and that's where the real sport began. He took 8 fish there in quick succession. Kevin finished the day on 8 Trout. Another good bag of the day was Chris Ector who hooked and landed 11 fish over both lakes ,Chris caught on a variety of lures using a floating line with a 15 foot leader. With the aerators kept on over night, the lakes were ice free on the Sunday. With the slightly milder weather on the Sunday morning, action started very quickly. Barry Love made a return to Seighford to have another go and his trip paid off with a total of 9 fish to 6lb. Best fish went to Darren Doody who landed a 9lb 8oz Rainbow after a 15 minute battle. Darren took the fish on a Cats Whisker using a floating line and slow retrieve.

Good bags of silver fish have come out over the past week. Red and white maggot being the bait of the week. The water has colored up to perfection and is just waiting for some warm weather to help get the Carp feeding. Roger Abnett enjoyed a good session on the Old pool, it was his first outing in 7 years and he finished his day in style, he landed a 3lb 4oz Perch smashing his previous personal best. Roger caught silverfish steadily throughout the day using double squatt on Peg 2. A stocking of 6,000 Roach have gone into the Horseshoe Pool, the fish range from 2" up to 8". This is sure to keep bites coming during these cold months. We do welcome clubs to our waters, bookings can be arranged over the phone. To book in ring us on the lodge phone on 01785 282967. Tal y llyn fishery report
2nd February 2010
The season starts on 1st of april and should be very interesting with a lot of over wintered fish to be seen feeding all over the lake on the milder days, so despite the snow and ice and frost of late prospects are good. The largest recorded brown of last season was an impressive fish of 10lb 12oz caught by mr Ian Sandford ,this took an olive goldhead by the mouth of the pentre steam. The feeder steams are always worth a cast or two with fresh oxygenated water trickling into the lake. By the end of last season a total of 32 seatrout were recorded, the best of these was 6lb caught by mr Graham Bell who also doubles up as a part time ghillie at tal y llyn. in fact graham caught the last fish of the season a superb fish of 3lb 14oz which took a daddy long legs whilst drifting along the cae drift. Early season tactics range from slow to medium sinking lines armed with a black lure or olive gold head damsel nymph on the point along with a bibio ,zulu, dabbler or similar wet fly on the cast , these then should be fished slowly and then dabbled just before lifting off. But on a mild day dont ignore the olives which will start to appear in the warmer weather and flies such as greenwells glory ,olive f fly shoukld be effective. boats should try long drifts along rectory down to pentre steam, one tree bay ,cae drift ,outer cairn drift and from the jetty down to agony point. tight lines Phil wood
