Foremark Reservoir will open for the new season on March 6th with a longer season than last year staying open up to November 28th.

The fishing at Foremark is secure for the next few years having sorted out the new lease with STW.

The restricted bank fishing (No fishing on the dam wall or the vistor entrance side) is still in place with bank anglers able to fish from the boat pontoon past the sailing club down to the boundary with the nature reserve.

For 2010 I have 22,000 fish on order (5,000 more than last year) which will include a pre-season stocking of 4,500 rainbows.

In the next couple of weeks I hope to have the fishery web site up & running.

Keith Coley 10lb1oz Foremark  Ian Hartland 10lb Foremark

Week ending 05/04/09

We have enjoyed an excellent start to the season at Foremark with 174 rods catching 2130 trout returning 1585 for a rod average of 12.2

Our initial stocking of just under 5000 trout ranging in size from 1lb4oz - 10lb will increased by a further 1500 trout this week to ensure our good sport continues over Easter.

The anglers fishing the bank have caught well from the boat pontoon, flamingo bay & hut point with boats finding trout in front of the lodge, sun blest & bramble bay.

On the cooler mornings an intermediate or DI5 has worked best especially for the boat anglers however once the air temperature increased a floating line was the order of the day. A large number of fly patterns have worked from blobs, tadpoles, cats whiskers, damsel diawl bach & buzzers.

A number of large stocked & overwintered trout have been caught Keith Coley 10lb1oz, I. Hartland 10lb, L. Wheeler 9lb8oz, S. Pym 7lb12oz & Ian Hall 5lb8oz.

Lodge & bank fishing open from 7.30am

Full Day Boats 8.30am - 7.15pm

Part Day Boats 7.30am - 2.00pm  /  2.00pm - 7.15pm

Photo's from 2008 season

Sam was fishing an intermediate line and a white lure to tempt this fish of a life time.    The end of another great season is coming to an end (30th November) so now is your last chance to come and give it a go, the fishing should be good all the way through now and the big fish should still feed hard in the cold weather.  Hope to see you up here soon and tight lines Phil Dixon.

Nick fished from a boat mainly down the Cavers Arm and around the Cascade to pick up his fish, Nick was using an Intermediate line with a black and green lure.  Mark Gately and boat Partner Gray Mitchell had a fine day as well this week catching 18 fish between them on a variety of methods and flies but sinking lines and a white Minkie proved to be most successful.  Mark and Gary were drifting the open water down Cavers to catch most of the fish but did catch a few around the cage.   A few more bank anglers have been catching the odd fish this week mainly on whit lures around the boat jetty, Sailing club and of Verdun's point, but there are fish in Flamingo Bay.  Top patterns have mainly been white with the odd fish still coming out and Buzzers and Dries.  The browns have started to show well again now with two 6lb fish coming off the bank.  The season for killing brown trout is over now so all browns must be returned safely to the water.  Hope to see you up here soon Tight Lines Phil Dixon.

James Dyson with a fantastic 9lb rainbow taken off a boat from the Cascade, James took the fish on a White Boobie.

Week ending 24th August 2008

Finally the fishing is holding it's own with another good week at foremark with the rod average of 3.5 and fish up to 11lb 12oz coming out.  The fishing has been great this week with anglers catching on a variety of methods from Dries to lures on intermediate but they key has been the depth with the top 4ft holding the majority of the feeding fish.     Andy Taylor showed the way this week with a cracking days sport on a floating line and Nymphs.  Andy was fishing from a drifting boat and using small Diawl Bachs, PTN and Black Buzzers to tempt 17 fish to the boat, Andy was covering fish all day long and couldn't believe how many fish were in the lake.  It was about time the lake produced a big fish and boy did it this week regular angler Ray Ellis from Derby caught one of the best fish i have seen for a long time the fully finned rainbow took Ray 3o minutes to land and tipped the scales to 11lb 12ozs what a fish!!!

Ray who was fishing over the boils caught the fish on a small Black and Green lure on a Floating line, when he hooked the fish he knew straight away it was a good fish as it sounded towards the bottom and he couldn't believe his eyes when he landed his biggest ever Rainbow trout well done Ray.

Bank fishing is slowly picking up with Mike Smith from Burton taking 6 fish of Verdun's point this week on the dries, top areas from the bank have been form the lodge round to Hut Point.    Now hopefully the fishing will be consistent with the weather cooling down and soon the fish will be back in the bays on the fry.  Tight Lines Phil Dixon

Karl Nixon from Lancaster with a fine overwintered rainbow of 6lb 10oz taken on a black buzzer fished from a boat over in Bush Bay.

Ian Gaskell 48 from Lancaster took this 8lb 2oz rainbow from a drifting boat down on the Dam Wall;  Ian used a floating line and a green Diawl Bach to tempt the fish.

Iain Barr 36 an I.T Manager from peterbough with a fine bag of fish all taken on a floating line with dries from a drifting boat.

Si Ownes from Derby with a 7lb rainbow took on a buzzer the fish was carefully returned to the water.

all the prize winners from the Foremark open.   from L to R: Mike Dixon 5th, Tom Dvies 3rd, Mark Davies 2nd, Me, Martin Dixon 1st, Nick Dunn 4th, Andrew Smith best fish 5lb 4oz.

Gary Davies from Woodville with the best fish of the week a fine 8lb 6oz rainbow taken on a Sunburst Booby fished off the bank in the Sailing Club Bay.

Gary had 15 fish on the day using a Di5 and Blobs.

Robin Soar and John Hyem who fished floating lines with long leaders all day; both caught the fish on black & green Montanas. John with his heaviest fish 5lb 2oz and Robin with a 4lb fish

Pic Les wheeler from Nottingham with a fine blue trout weighing 7lb, Les tempted this from a boat outside the lodge on an orange booby.

Ray Land had the largest fish of the season this week a cracking overwintered fish at 8lb 10ozs.  Ray took 20 mins to land this fantastic rainbow which took a Green Damsel fished on an intermidate line outside the Lodge.

Les Wheeler weighed a fine Blue trout in at 7lb which he took of the boat fishing a Di7 and a Orange Boobie on the bottom next to the cage.  Iain Barr had proberly the best day this week taking 35 fish up to 4lb off the boat in variours spote from the Sailing Club down the Cavers Arm and the Gorse Bushes.  Iain was fishing a di3 with his new patterns the Blue Cat and also the U V Black Cormarant and boy do they work.

Glen Moody from Crewe had a fine day taking 6 fish for 18lb and releasing 34 rainbows and a lovely brown pushing the 5lb mark.
