Weekly Ranger’s review:
Fishery Headline: “Hanningfield Goes Out With A Bang”
Yet another week of bad weather, with continuous strong winds and heavy rain, but this didn’t stop Hanningfield going out with a bang as we ended what has been a brilliant season.
Boat anglers have taken quality rainbows from Boundary Bay on large lures and tube flies using sinking lines. The HFA competition on Saturday produced 64 fish from 8 boats, with Mr Clive Morgan and Mr Paul Willis taking 16 trout – best 6lb 13oz to win. Others included many over 4lb, all in prime condition and a credit to the standard of fish released this year.
Mr David Bromley managed a 10 fish haul on Tuesday in crazy, choppy weather with a top rainbow of 7lb 12oz for 23lb 8oz in total.
Anglers on the bank continue to land regular catches of trout of 3-4 fish along School Bay / Seven Sisters. This area has consistently proved best for weeks especially with floating lines and lures.
Those spinning from boats have found sport more patchy, but gold has still been the best choice of colour.
The reservoir is now closed from December 1st and re-opens on 6th March 2010.
I would just like to thank everyone for their support this season and look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Weekly Ranger’s review:
Fishery Headline: “3.5 Rod Average Despite The Weather”
Bad weather all week has restricted the fishery from both boats and the bank, as we experienced gales and heavy rain most days. When conditions improved, trout could be found in the shallows along the natural bank with a good average weight in the 2-3lb mark.
Large black or white lures are taking a good number of fish, but Boobies and Blobs on a D.I.3 are a good alternative. School Bay has been productive for those anglers wading and Hall Point is still a good option especially as Atlantis is now underwater and un-fishable.
Water clarity is good and the level is rising fast, so this should be helpful when we start again next season on Saturday March 6th.
Day tickets are £15 in November with a boat also £15 all day. There is a “No Catch Limit” this month so reserve your boat over the weekend to avoid disappointment.
Boats in time: 15:30 (Boats leave Jetty at 08:30).
Bank closing: 15:45.
Water temp: 10C.
Best any method: Lob Worm, Gold Mepps style Spinner.
Best flies: White Booby or Minkie Booby.

Weekly Ranger’s review:
Fishery Headline: “10lb 12oz beauty for Harry”
Weatherwise, a very mixed week all round, with calm conditions most days, finishing with very strong winds and much needed heavy rain.
The water quality is still good and rising, providing good sport around the Inlet down to Hall Point. Boats taking good catches on lures from the top layers with Boobies on a D.I.7 recommended as a second option. Mr Harry Hammond landed a brilliant specimen rainbow of 10lb 12oz on a white Minky Booby drifting past the cage – making this fish one of the heaviest of the season.

First timer fisher's Libby Sturley and Chole Miles both with 3lb 12oz rainbows taken on silver spinners.
