Week ending 20th July 2008

42 rods caught 229 fish 94 taken and 135 returned

Excellant surface sport with a lot of fish caught on dry flies.

A major operation of weed cutting and cleaning onto the bank has been successful and most of the water is now clear of weed.

the deep water is still the favotite area for bank and boat.

Best flies Montana nymph, Diawl bach, Green buzzerand Cats whisker.

Dries  Daddies and Gray duster.

 

Week ending 14th July 2008

50 rods caught 288 fish 132 taken and 156 returned.

 Best areas for both bank and boats Deep water.

Shipmans buzer, GRHE, Fritz damsel, Montana nymph,Daddies and cdc have all taken this week. Lots of limit bags coming to the dry fly (daddies)

Week ending6th July 2008

61 rods caught 179 fish 106 taken and 73 returned.

best fish of the week was a rainbow at six ponnds, Mr John Whitfield from Leeds caught the fish while fishing from a float tube.

Best areas for bank and boats deep water and sand bank.

Floating lines have taken the most fish this week, a lot of fish taken on dry flies.

Diawl bach, Montana nymph, Fritz damsel nymph, Cats whisker, Sedge and Daddies have all worked well this past week .

Week ending 29th June 2008

45 rods caught 193 fish 104 taken and 69 returned

Best fish of the week was rainbow at 5lbs 8ozs  Mr George Makin of Northampton.

Best areas for bank anglers deep water and the sand bank.

Boats all over the lake.

Fly patternes Green /red buzzers, Diawl bach, Montana, Fritz damsel, Cats whisker.

Dries Caddies and Grey duster.

 

Week ending 15th June 2008

63 rods caught 354 fish 154 taken and 200 returned.

Excellent hatches of buzzers, sedges, and Mayfly with lots of fish taken on dries.

Best patterns Diawl bach, GRHE, PNT,Montana nymph,

Dries Black gnay, Sedge and Grey duster.

 

25th to 8th June 2008

112 rod caught471 fish 226 taken and 245 returned

Best fish was a rainbow at 5lbs 4ozs, Mr Steven Mailsher of Desborough.

Best areas for bank anglers Addington rd bank and deep water for boats Deep water.

With excellant hatches of sedge and may fly lots of surface activity.most fish caught on floating lines. Patterns that have done well are Diawl bach, green/blk buzzers, Green pea, Montana nymph, H.E.N., Shipmans buzzer, Soldier palmer, and Mallard and claret,

Dry flies  Cul-de-canard, Sedge,

 

Week ending 25th May 2008

53 rods caught 193 fish 121 taken and 72 returned.

Best fish of the week was a 5lbs4ozs rainbow taken by Mr Paul Shepherd of Bedford.

Best areas for bank anglers Addington rd bank and Willow bay, Boats deep water. top patterns this week are GH Damsel, GRHE, Daiwl Bach, Green buzzers,orange tadpole, Olives, Sedge patterns and May fly nymph.

Week ending 18th May 2008

 66 rods caught 354 fish 165 taken and 189 returned

With a rod average of over 5 per rod

Best fish of the week was a 7lbs rainbow Mr Mick Cox of Finedon caught the super fish

fishing from a boat, a damsel nymph was its downfall.

All areas fishing well, most taken on intermediate lines.

Best patterns this past week have been GH damsel,Montana nymph, Diawl bach, BLK/ GREEN Buzzers and May fly nymph.

Week ending 11th May 2008

85 rods caught 324 fish 119 taken and 205 returned.

Best fish of the week 5lbs 6ozs the bank angler Mr Jene Robinson from Raunes

Bst area for bank anglers Addington rd bank and Willow bay, and best for boats Deep water Mill corner.

 With quite a lot of may flies hatching and the odd damsel flicking about, May fly nymph, Blk and Green buzzer, Diawl bach, Bloodworm, Orange fritz and Cats whisker have been the tpo patterns this past week.

 

Week ending 4th May 2008

67 rods caught 378 fish 193 taken ans 85 returned.

Best fish of the week was a rainbow at 5lbs 6ozs caught by Mr Gene Robinson of Rounds

Best Brown Mr Jason Spotten of Kettering the fish weighing 4lbs 2ozs.

Best bank areas Addington rd bank and Willow bay.

Best areas for boats Deep water and Mill corner.

With good hatches of buzzers anglers are having a field day

Top patterns this week are blk/Grn/red Buzzers, Fritz damsel, Diawl bach nymph, May fly nymph and Cats wisker.

Week ending 28th April 2008

70 rods caught 297 fish 137 taken and 160 returned.

Best fish of the week was a brown trout at 5lbs 6ozs, Peter Freeman of Northampton caught the fish fishing from the bank in deep water using a cats whisker.

Best area for bank anglers Sand banks and Willow bay.

Best area's for boat anglers Deep water and Mill corner.

Fly patterns this week are Fritz Damsel, Beaver, Montana nymph, Orange Tadpole, Mayfly, Bloodworm and Cats whisker.

Week ending 21st April 2008

62 rods caught 335 fish, 139 taken and 196 returned.

Best fish of the week was a 7lbs 2ozs rainbow caught by Mr David Hope of Brixworth.

Best Brown this week was taken by Mr Peter Jones of Northampton, his bag limit was 12lbs 8ozs.

Best area for bank anglers Addington rd bank and Willow bay, Boats Deep water.

Blk and Green Tadpole, Orange Fritz, GH Damsel, Cats whisker and Blk and Green buzzers.

Mr Harold Prichett of Atherstone won the Trout Fisherman eliminator with 18lbs 10ozs and will represent Ringstead in the finals at Grafham Water in May.

 

Week ending 13th April 2008

65 rods caught 256fish 140 taken and 116 returned.

 Best fish of the week was a rainbow at 6lbs 6ozs the angler who caught this fine fish was mr John Thetwell of Ringstead.

Best area for boats deep water, and the best area for bank anglers are Addington rd bank and Willow bay.

Top flies this week are Fritz damsel, Dialw bach, Orange Tadpole, Montana and Cats Whisker.

 

Week ending 6th April 2008

64 rods caught 379 fish 191 taken and 188 returned.

Even the cold weather did not stop anglers coming to Ringstead , with an rod average of over 5 fish per rod, Best area for bank anglers  Addington rd bank and Mill Corner.

Best area for boats Deep water.

Fly patterns that fished well this week are GH Damsel, Montana nymph, BLK or Green buzzers, Fritz Dansel, Whiskey fly and Cats whisker, most fish taken on intermediate lines

 

Week ending 30th March 2008

55 rods caught 291 foish 125 taken and 166 returned.

Best fish of the week was a rainbow at 8lns 7ozs and this was caught by My Antony Scott of Rushden on a cats whisker from he bank

.Best areas for bank/boat anglers Mill corner and Addington rd bank.

Best fly patterns Diawl bach, Beaver, BLK Buzzer, Orang tadpole, Fritz damse,l Blood worm and Cats whisker.

Week ending 17th March 2008

41 rods caught 187 fish 86 taken and 101 returned.

Best fish of the week was 8lbs 4ozs Rainbow caught from the bank by Erthlingboroughs Mr Terry Waterfield.

Best area's for boats are Mill corner and Riverside bank, bank: Mill corner, Addington rd and Willow bay.

most fish this week have been taken on intermediate lines with Diawl bach, Beaver,Cats whisker and black buzzer.

 

10th March 2008

54 rods caught 255 fish 107 taken and 148 returned.

Ringstead has been on top form from the start of the season with some very large fish coming out, although conditions have not been favourble.

Best fish of the week was a rainbow at 10lbs 4ozs taken by Chris James of Leicester,

Chris was fishing from the bank and took the fish on a black tadpole, he also caught another big fish at 8lbs 3ozs to the same method, David Barker from Luton had one at 9lbs 1ozs from the boat and this took a Cats wisker, Kieth Larner of Hinckley took one at 7lbs 3ozs.

Best area's are Mill Corner, Willow Bay and Addington rd bank.

 top patterns this week are Montana nymph, Black buzzers, Beaver, Orange Tadpole, Fritz Damsel and Cats Whisker

3rd March 2008

79 rods caught 389 fish 203 taken and 186 returned giving an average of 4.92 fish per rod.

Best fish of the week was a Rainbow at 10lbs 2ozs this fish was caught by Kettering angler Mr Nick Keller, Mr Steven Gregory of Northampton caught one at 8lbs 0ozs.

Floating and intermediate lines fished slowly are the order of the day.

Best area's are Caravan Corner and Willow bay.

Top patterns are G.H Damsel, Beaver, Orange Fritz, Whiskey fly, Blach Buzzer and Cat's Whisker.

26th February 2008

74 rods caught 526 fish 256 taken 270 returned.

best fish 6lbs 5oz Rainbow taken by Mr Terry Waterfield of Erthingborough.

Best areas Willow bay, Addington rd bank and Mill corner.

Best method intermediate lines.

Best patterns GH Damsels, Beaver, orange tadpole, orange fritz and cats whisker.

 

19th February 2008

Ringstead opening weekend fishing report.

56 rods caught 530 fish, 218 taken and 312 returned

Best areas are Mill corner and Addington rd bank.

Fly patterns Gold head Damsel, Orange tadpole, Beaver, and Cats whisker

 

Ringstead will open on Saturday the 16th February 2008.

The water has been stocked with a lot of quality rainbows for the start of the season, and also there will be a larger number of brown trout stocked this season.

Permit prices have stayed the same as last year.( see below)
