Cold weather has limited angler numbers but the rod average was a respectable 2.7

30 anglers caught 192 fish of which 95 were returned
Best Fish Rainbow 10lb 14oz caught by Gene Robinson of Raunds on a damsel nymph from a boat. With the cold North winds over the weekend the most comfortable part of the lake to fish was the River bank and Addington road bank. There were plenty of fish taken here as well as in Willow bay. Nearly all fish are being caught very close to the bank on floaters or intermediate lines and a slow retrieve.

Hi Ziggy, This is a photo of my son Gene Robison from Raunds with a 9lb 3oz Rainbow caught at Ringstead Grange on the 24th October whilst boat fishing with myself his father.

The fish was caught on an intermediate line with a 6lb leader at about 3feet deep on a candy floss booby, the fish was returned safely back with a further 14 more all caught in a 4 hour session.

The deep water, lodge bank and willow bay are the hot spots.
Some super dry fly fishing is to be had with fish feeding from the surface, most of the better fish where taken on dries last week.

Last week saw Browns introduced into the water and with rainbows going in twice a week the fishing is still very good.Lots of small flies coming of the water such as sedges, damsels and Daddies

Best fish of the week was a rainbow at 7lbs 0ozs taken by Mr N Tebbett of Mimmington.
Willow bay and Lodge bank are the best for both bank and boat.
Big hatches of Damsels, buzzers and Sedges are the main food sorce for the trout and the best patterns are Silver invicta, Shipmans buzzer, Diawl bach, Daddies sedge patterns and the grey duster.

Best fish of the week was taken by Northampton rod John Summers, John was fishing from a boat and caught the fish on a black buzzer.
Best area's for both boat and bank, Lodge bank and Willow bay. Top patterns this week are Black, Red or Green buzzers, Diawl bach, Bloodworm. Fritz damsel and Cat's whisker.
The fish seem to be in the top layer of the water and quite close to the banks.

Openind was a bit of a no go sort of day with the whole of the lake frozen over, but since then the fishery has got of to a great start, with 59 rods catching 481 fish.
Best fish of the week was taken by Oakham rod Tom Weaver, a rainbow at 11lbs 8ozs

Terry Waterfield who lives on a narrow boat in Northampton caught this 10lb 8oz Rainbow from a boat at Ringstead this morning. He used a black and green fritz lure on a floating line anchored off the lodge banks

Best fish of the week was a brown trout at 6lbs 10ozs, Mr Chris James of Glen parva Leicester caught the fish fishing from a boat.
Lots of fish taken on dries, Daddies,Hoppers, Montana nymph, Fritz damsel, Floating fry, Cat's whisker and GRHE nymph also working well.

40 rods caught 135 fish 68 taken and 67 returned.
Now the cooler weather has come the trout are feeding hard and good catches are coming from the middle of the lake. Fritz damsel, Diawl bach, GRHE, Soldier palmer, and Cats whisker have all taken fish this week. Hoppers and Daddies are still worth a try.

A lot of fish taken this week again on dries with daddies and black gnat being the best for action on the surface Diawl bach, BLK/GRN Buzzers,Cats whisker, HE Nymph and Fritz damsel have all taken fish this past week.

Excellant surface sport with a lot of fish caught on dry flies.
A major operation of weed cutting and cleaning onto the bank has been successful and most of the water is now clear of weed.

Mr Harold Prichett of Atherstone won the Trout Fisherman eliminator with 18lbs 10ozs and will represent Ringstead in the finals at Grafham Water in May.

Ringstead has been on top form from the start of the season with some very large fish coming out, although conditions have not been favourble.
Best fish of the week was a rainbow at 10lbs 4ozs taken by Chris James of Leicester,
Chris was fishing from the bank and took the fish on a black tadpole, he also caught another big fish at 8lbs 3ozs to the same method, David Barker from Luton had one at 9lbs 1ozs from the boat and this took a Cats wisker, Kieth Larner of Hinckley took one at 7lbs 3ozs.
Best area's are Mill Corner, Willow Bay and Addington rd bank.

Best fish of the week was a Rainbow at 10lbs 2ozs this fish was caught by Kettering angler Mr Nick Keller, Mr Steven Gregory of Northampton caught one at 8lbs 0ozs.
Floating and intermediate lines fished slowly are the order of the day.

Ringstead opening weekend fishing report.
56 rods caught 530 fish, 218 taken and 312 returned
Best areas are Mill corner and Addington rd bank.
Fly patterns Gold head Damsel, Orange tadpole, Beaver, and Cats whisker
Ringstead will open on Saturday the 16th February 2008.
The water has been stocked with a lot of quality rainbows for the start of the season, and also there will be a larger number of brown trout stocked this season.
