 Foremark week ending 19/05/13 report
Excellent fishing again this week seeing 137 rods fishing and catching 1094 trout for a rod average of 8.0

The fishing from the banks still remains in form this week with some rods doing very well. The fish are continuing to take buzzers and diawl batch with even more confidence this week.  Floating lines and midge tip lines are doing well.  The water level is still down giving good space on the banks. In some areas, and the clarity is very good. On the more overcast days the banks are fishing as well as the boat with fish showing close in and feeding confidently producing numbers into double figures regularly. The boats are finding lots of fish showing in most areas along carvers arm, cascade and heron bay, but not yet showing in large numbers in open water. Damsels are still fairing very well. Sun blest and Bramble bay along with Flamingo bay have also fished well on intermediate lines with damsels, and F.A.B blobs. Floating and midge tip lines with buzzers and diawl batch have also been productive for the boats.

Thornton members Mr Dayman and Mr Perkins fished from a boat on Thursday and netted 29 fish between them on floating line and buzzers.
Season permit holder Mr E. Mcgarrigle fished the bank on Wednesday and landed 21 fish to 4lbs.Mr N. Mussun netted the best fish of the week a rainbow of 5LBs 4oz from the bank in Sunblesst bay on a Montana.

1,000 fish caught last week, what a difference a couple of weeks make. A few days of warmer weather and we are off to a flyer also with the weather looking more settled the prospects are looking good for this coming week

131 rods caught 1000 trout for a rod average of 7.6

The fishing from the banks have been a bit of a patchy this week with some rods doing very well and others finding the going slow, but those that can put out a good line against the strong cold east north east wind have done well but with the improvement in the weather again over the week end has helped to improve the fishing, With fish now switching on to buzzers and diawl batch to both floating lines and midge tip lines olive and black buzzers doing best.

With the wind over the weekend switching to south westerly direction and looks likely to remain for most of this coming week its a far better direction for the bank anglers

The water level has dropped slightly over the weekend giving more room in the margins in some areas, and the clarity is still very good. The boats continue to fish better than the banks with numerous catches in the teens lots of fish showing on the far side of carvers arm to damsels and cats whisker other boats have fared very well in flamingo bay on intermediate lines on damsels, boobies. Foremark week ending report 24/03/2013

56 rods caught 331 fish returning 258 for a rod average of 5.9

The very cold weather continues to dictate tactics again this week with the fish still holding down in the water column but the fish are still very willing to attack those deep fished lures. Fish have moved out slightly in Flamingo bay and the east-north east winds have not helped the bank anglers but those rods that have put out a good line have favoured best. The boats have been having some excellent sport around Flamingo bay and sunblest bay on sinking lines.

The top fish this week was caught by Mr G Mann from hut point on a damsel a superb over wintered rainbow which tipped the scales a little over 6LBS (well done Gary). Also the pundits go to Mr Alan Topping for braving the icy wind on Friday and fishing from the banks of Flamingo bay for four hours and landing 4 trout.(it was very cold).
The wintery weather at the weekend forced us to close the fishery and we remain closed today as the driveway from the gate to the lodge is a sheet of ice in places, we hope to be open Tuesday weather permitting.

For more up to date information call the lodge on Tel: 01283 703202 with a rod average of 5.9  and blistering sport to be had the sooner we can get rods out fishing again the better.

Rods: 120 Trout Taken: 304 Trout Returned: 700 Total Trout Caught: 1004 Weeks Rod Average: 8.4

Wow what a week it has been here at Foremark we have seen a mix of Frosts, Winds, Sun shine and Snow. And yet a good number of anglers have ventured out and they have been rewarded with some excellent fishing. The trout have shown in excellent numbers from the banks and the boats. Flamingo bay has been in top form with fish falling in the most to intermediate lines teamed up with cat’s whisker, damsels and black and green tadpoles with the boobies also attracting a lot of fish. Sun blessed bay and bramble bay have also fished well from the banks. The boats have seen some superb catches from Flamingo bay and the dam wall in front of the lodge. On the far side the cascade and heron bay have also been in the running.

Coppenhal Fly Fishers held their annual bank match on Saturday 16.03.2013 with 19 rods with 6 fish limits( all but one rod caught their limit) and there were also numerous returns catching a total of 185 fish for a rod average of 9.7 the biggest fish of the match was 5LBS 8oz

The top 3 weights are as follows:

D. Ollier 18LBS 8oz, I.Buckley 17LBS 14oz, M.Laycock 17LBS 8oz, N.Gregory 17LBS 8oz

BEST FISH OF THE WEEK: this goes to Mr M Chater (metal Mickey) a over wintered 8LBS 10oz Rainbow caught from the sailing club pontoon on intermediate line and a natural damsel pattern. (Nice fish Mickey)

Foremark mid week up date 14.03.2013

Despite the sub-zero temperatures and icy winds of recent days the fishing has remained excellent with the rod average a superb 9.5for just three days of fishing!

Flamingo bay and Sun blessed bay, are holding the majority of the fish but other areas are still producing well. Normal early season tactic’s are working best, sinking lines teamed with black and green tadpoles, boobies, blobs, and damsels. The boats are finding good sport in similar areas and are reporting high numbers of fish being returned.

With fish averaging 2lb & a rod average of 9.5 Foremark we are enjoying a superb start to 2013 despite the weather.

The first full weeks fishing of the season continued in the same vain as the first few days with fish showing well to both bank and boat anglers alike. The trout have been taking well all along the banks with Flamingo bay seeing most of the pressure due mainly to the Easterly winds. Bramble bay and the wires have however continued to produce a good number of trout for those anglers how have been able to throw a line out against the wind. In the main sinking and intermediate lines have been the method of  the week, some rods earlier in the week were having some good sport on floating lines and buzzers during the warmer parts of the day.

Boat fishing has been good with some anglers catching large numbers of fish in the opening to Flamingo bay and along the Ticknall bank and the cascade areas. These fish have fell to similar methods as the bank.

A good number of fish between 3lb to 4lb have graced anglers’ nets with a nice 5lb rainbow falling to Mr S. Savage from the bank in Flamingo Bay. A special mention should go to Derby county angler rosemary Gunn for her determination on fishing through the severe cold and snow on Sunday on the banks of Bramble bay and netting 7 trout to 3lb 8oz when most of the other anglers had headed home for a warm by the fire. (Well done)

Foremark fishing report week ending 03.03.2013

173 rods netted 1531 fish returning 1189 for a rod average of 8.8

The season got off to a flying start on Friday with 84 anglers braving the cold north wind and netting over 700 trout for a opening day rod average of 9.2. With the water level being down by three to four feet there is plenty of room on the banks this was found to be a bonus as the fish are well spread out with fish being taken from the boat pontoon, sailing club bay, Flamingo bay, hut point, Bramble bay, Sun blessed bay and the wires. The boats also fared well from the entrance of Flamingo bay the cascade and the gorse bushes.

Best flies have been black and green tadpoles, Damsels, Cats whisker, Boobies and Blobs, with some rods doing well on Buzzers. Mainly intermediate and sinking lines have worked best.

The best Brown trout was caught by Mr. Clive Wilkins and weighed in at 4lbs 12 oz. The best Rainbow trout was caught by Mr. Phil Harding and weighed in at 6lbs 2oz.

Foremark end of season report

Season ending 30th November 2012

5,283 rods caught 20,449 trout, returning 12,536 fish for a seasonal rod average of 3.87

It has been another good season here at Foremark, despite the weathers best efforts, with yet another excellent seasonal rod average (3.8).

Early season sport from the bank was superb with the good old Damsel pattern taking some very good catches including the season’s best brown trout a stunning 9lb 4oz caught and returned by Mr D Sanderson whilst  bank fishing Flamingo bay.

Then as the water temperatures improved early season buzzers fished well followed by the fabulous Hawthorn fly hatches providing a fortnight of good dry fly fishing, but then came the rain, the wettest spell for years, and boy did it rain day after day so it was back to the lures and boobies.

Mr J.Carter found this season’s best rainbow trout another stunning 11lb fish caught in deep water around number one boy on a homemade deep fished lure. This fish was also returned. Due to the lack of terrestrial fly life this year, and the, wet weather, the dry fly fishing was not up to the usual standards of Foremark, therefore the deeper fished lures & nymphs caught best. This said expectations are high for top surface sport next season with consistent water levels.

Towards the end of the season the fish moved back towards the bank and the season finished with some good catches and steady averages.

We are now taking match and Boat bookings for the 2013 with the new season opening on Friday 1st March 2013

For 2013 Fishery Manager Richard Pearson will be offering fly fishing tuition at Foremark having gained his Level 2 coaching certificate, full details of tuition available will be on the Foremark web site

Week ending 25.11.2011

51 rods caught 114 trout, returning 51 fish for a rod average of 2.2

The fishing has continued in the same vain yet again this week with the boats doing well along Carvers arm, and in Bramble bay sun blest bay and in flamingo bay yet again  DI 5 and DI7 lines remain the preferred chose, fished with boobies and minkie boobies  some anglers have had some good sport fishing with blood worm patterns. Fish are continuing to still moving towards the banks. Sun blest and bramble bay have produced some good catches again this week. There have been fish showing off hut point and in the shallows of Flamingo bay for short periods of the day. But the fish remain tight to the bottom moving up to about 8 feet deep during the warmer parts of the day in the main. On the brighter days the banks are a little slower. The water clarity is still very good.

With only one weeks of our season left its time to load up your freezers for some tasty trout over the Christmas holidays.

Foremark fishing report for last week( Monday 18/6- Sunday 24/6)

Weather last week, strong wind & rain kept rods off the water which was a shame as the 96 rods who did fish caught 401 trout for a 4.2

Great quality fish showing at this venue with Mr Castle recording 6 fish for 17lb with the best weighing 4lb8oz. Mr Lancia & Mr Cravagan also recorded fish weighing 5lb, with Graham Hoffman recording a rainbow of 5lb8oz

The cooler than expected weather for the time of year is a blessing for the bank angler keeping the trout within their range. The aerators are on but with the cool water temperature the trout have no need to seek the cooler aerated water. Flamingo, Bramble & sunblest bay are the main area bank anglers should head for.

As you would expect for June the damsel fly is working well with a diawl bach & black &green tadpole also successful patterns this past week
