Draycote weekly update 19/5/2013
Bank fishing is available but only from the natural grassed banks. Bank anglers can take their cars around the reservoir but we are restricted to 30 bank anglers cars at anyone time, we recommend you call the lodge and book one of the 30 car passes available.
Draycote is continuing to fish at a steady pace. A continued nagging water discolour is hampering a true reflection of the volume of fish that are now in the lake. The wind today has switched to the North, giving a dramatic air temperature change to the summers day of the day before! One thing is for sure when the clarity gives way to its usual crystal clear clarity and the weather decides to stay settled for more than two days, then Draycote is sure to erupt.
Thursday afternoon whilst stocking fish, the lake was still, and this tempted fish in there hundreds to the surface, and they could be seen right across the lake, rising freely. It appears though that as the surface water temperature remains cool, the fish are not staying in the surface, but lying approx 4feet down. The bank fishing remains good as fish are staying close to the shores. This year’s weed growth has helped keep them close in as the fish are feeding on snails, as stomach contents are showing. Daphnia too is on the menu! Buzzers appear in there millions on the warmer days and the fish respond accordingly, though they are not the easiest to catch as they are not staying in the surface to long, however regular angler John Dews took 11 fish on buzzers from the Tower bank on Friday! Gold head lures are still catching well, fished usually with a team of buzzers. The best areas have been the Tower Bank, Dunns Bay, Toft Shallows and Rainbow Corner.
Boat anglers too have had some consistent sport, though finding the depth is key! Warmer quieter days have seen plenty of fish moving, and those who have fished buzzers have caught well. Sinking lines and lures are still producing the better catches. Black boobies, Cats whiskers and Pitsford Pea lures are still the best choice of lures. The best boat areas have been Farnboro Spit, Biggin Bay, Toft Shallows, Tower bank. Three fish of 8lb plus were caught this last week – Mr Mozcant landed the best fish, 8lb 8oz. Best Flies –Damsels, boobies, black buzzers, pitsford pea, gold head lures.

Draycote has continued to fish well despite the changeable weather conditions and water clarity. The clarity is improving and latest catches are reflecting that. The Coppenhall Fly fishers held a match on Saturday, and the 20 anglers took a very credible 5 fish average, in the current tinted water !!!!! The England Youth team also held a weekend of practice matches. They too took excellent bags, up to 15 fish per man !!!! London angler Eugene Hughes set the pace for the week with over 30 fish taken along the dam wall in front of the lodge. Eugene was using a di-3 and di-5 sweep line with a team of cormorants and a small booby on the point. “The fish were taking as the flies came up off the bottom” he said. The buzzer fishing is still rather sporadic, mainly dictated by the changeable weather. The bank continues to fish well, with the better catches coming to buzzers fished on floating lines. Damsels, cats whiskers, and the Pitsford Pea lures are still taking a good majority of fish, as the fish haven’t decided whether they want lures or buzzers. Boat anglers have taken the majority of fish on lures, a combination of blobs, boobies, and streamer lures.Di-5 and Di-3 lines have proved the best lines, and fishing close to the shores is imperative!! The fish are still tight into the banks, as the water remains cool. The best bank areas have been, the Tower Bank, Dunns Bay point, Lincroft Point, The Corn fields and Rainbow Corner. Boats have done well in Toft Shallows, The Farborough Spit, The draw off tower, and Biggin Bay. COMPETITION NEWS JULY 13TH – Rio Pairs Match £1000 tackle 1st prize – prizes to 10th place. or in person. As much as we all prayed for some warm weather to finally wet our nets on a more consistent basis, the warm weather quite often brings along with it the dreaded word “algae”. Last week we saw a recent bloom all but disappear, all but to return after the weekends long awaited warm sunshine. As I write this report this morning’s cool weather has already cleared the water compared to yesterday. The next few days weather forecast should clear the water to give a good clarity again. The fishing however was still very good, though a little more thought was required to catch them, as once again the fish homed into the cleaner water, often near the margins. The buzzer fishing still has not reached its full potential as the water temperature still remains generally cool. Buzzer hatches are now frequent with clouds of literally thousands over the waters edge during the evenings and early afternoon. The fish however are still not swimming freely on or near the surface, so different approaches other than floating lines are still needed most of the time. Some very good fish have started to show now too. Mr Denney returned a fish he estimated at 12lb, taken in Toft Shallows. Mr Habbal landed a rainbow of 8lb 5oz, another fish of 8lb 4oz was also recorded. The boats have done well fishing Toft Shallows, The Inlet, The Tower and the Draycote Dam. Sinking lines and lures are still taking the majority of fish from the boats, using Di-5 and Di-3 lines with blobs and boobies. Black and green lures are also working well. On less windy days buzzers have done well too. The bank continues to do well with many bag limits being taken. Buzzers have been a good choice from the bank on floating lines, though black and green lures continue to catch good amounts of fish. The best areas have been Bottom of Toft Shallows, the Tower Bank, Dunns Bay ,Lincroft Point, and the Hensbrough Dam wall. Bank anglers; to ensure you can take your car around the perimeter road call the lodge and book one of the 30 bank angler car passes

This last week alone we have seen 5 fish caught weighing between 8 and 12lb !! Rod Wilson, a regular visitor who fishes the rudder, took one fish to 12lb(returned) and another fish of 8lb on the same day. Mr Denney also recorded a fantastic day with two fish over 7lb. It appears we have seen the back of the cold weather, the fish have now moved up in the water and are readily on the feed. Rainbow corner, renowned for its prolific buzzer fishing, is in top form with reports of some big fish moving in in the evenings. The bank is still producing very good rod averages, as a below normal water temperature is still keeping a good head of fish close to the margins. The boats are experiencing some excellent sport both on lures and on some occasions buzzers(when conditions allow). With this weekends weather looking superb for fishing, those who do visit Draycote Water I would predict to have some fantastic sport !! Best flies – black buzzers down to size 14, Diawl Bachs, Blobs, boobies, Pitsford Pea, Goldhead damsels, and goldhead variants Bank anglers have vehicle access to the perimeter road, we are limited to 30 bank anglers cars using the perimeter road at any one time, we recommend you call the lodge and book one of the 30 bank car passes Visit our online shop at www.flyfishstore.co.uk Tight Lines Craig Barr Report week ending 28/04/13 Draycote has been in fantastic form this past week with a rod average of over 10. The fishing has improved remarkably, partly down to the now crystal clear water. The bank fishing remains in hot form, with fish being caught on all banks. Buzzers have been the main menu for the fish, although a lure on the point has been very productive too. The tower bank has been producing some of the lakes biggest fish recently, many of which have been over wintered. Lorenzo Serrano, a season ticket holder, has had fish up to 7lb off the tower bank, using damsels and buzzers on a sink tip line. Draycote Fly fishers club member Brian Froggat landed his biggest fish of the season, a cracking 9lb 12 oz rainbow. He also landed a 7lb rainbow in his haul of 19 fish !! Mr G Hunter had a fish of 8lb.Andy ball stole the show with the weeks best of 10lb. The rainbow was taken off the bank at Toft Shallows. The boats too have been in excellent form, with many anglers landing in excess of 20 fish. After the long spell of cold weather, the previously stocked fish have finally come to life and are feeding and making up for lost time. Mr T West landed 13 fish, 2 of which were over 6lb. Sinking lines have still been the first line choice from a boat, however on calmer days buzzers have out fished the lures.Draycotes renowned buzzer hatches are now here, and the fish are feeding hard on them, especially at Rainbow Corner and Toft Shallows. The buzzers are still small, so make sure you have some size 12’s and 14’s to hand ! Spaces are still available for our boat pairs matches on Draycote – Rio Pairs match – international rules, floating line only. Entry pp £25 + fishing fees on the day. 1st place £1000 tackle. Water clarity – very clear Tight Lines Craig Barr Draycote Update 19/04/2013 This week started with very strong winds, however today, the winds have dropped and the fishing has improved remarkably. Bank anglers today have had a very good day, with 7 anglers along the tower bank all having plenty of fish – each !! Buzzers have been the main menu for today, and as the water clarity remains a little cloudy, the fish are still close to the shores in the cleaner water. Boats that are fishing closer to the shores are doing well, again fishing into cleaner water. Sinking lines and black and green lures have been the best tactics from the boats, however those that have anchored have caught well on buzzers, fished deep. With the weather forecast looking generally good for this coming weekend, the fishing should improve with it. (famous last words!!!!!!!!!) Tight lines Craig Barr
Draycote Weekly Report week ending 14/04/2013 Finally, it looks like we have seen the back of the cold weather, and summer certainly seems to be in the air ! The first bit of warmth has triggered a discolouration of the water, and this has slowed things a little, and it seems the fish have gone deep into the cleaner water. Mr G Alsop landed 11 fish from the bank with the best weighing 4.8lb. Fish are now feeding on the buzzers but are proving a little tricky to catch as the buzzers at the moment are very small. The boats have shaded it this week with some good catches. A regular group of Welsh anglers led the way this weekend with all but 2 taking their 8 fish limits(9 anglers). Gareth Williams landed 23, whilst Nathan Williams landed 18, the best being this week’s biggest fish of 7lb(Brown). Sinking lines have been the best line choice, with fish being on or near the bottom, most of the time. This warmer weather has seen some consistent surface action in the calmer parts of the lake, so it will not be to long until the fish come up in the water. Boobies and blobs have still produced more fish, however the Pitsford Pea lure has taken a good share of the fish this week. Buzzers have worked but more on a sporadic basis for now! Total number of rods 201 Total number of fish caught 435 Total number of fish released 644 Rod average 5.36 To book a boat or a bank fishing permit, please call the fishing lodge on 01788 812018. Draycote week ending 07/04/2013 The weekend just gone by, you would have thought we had finally turned the corner with the cold weather, however it is now Tuesday and we are back to norm with a cool NE wind. The fishing has remained overall very good, however one or two signs now showing the fish are starting to spread out a bit more, and no longer sitting in tight shoals 15 yards from the bank. The West Mids Police force had their first match on Draycote Water on Wednesday and 15 anglers managed a rod average of 7 fish per angler, with Rich Watkins weighing in the biggest at 41/4lb. Mr English had a cracking bag from the bank with two of his four fish being over wintered rainbows weighing 4lb+. J black band recorded the best fish from the bank, a nice rainbow of 5lb. Thirteen bank anglers recorded in excess of a dozen fish each from the bank this last week ! The boats have also continued to fish very well. Mr L Jones had a fantastic day landing 25 fish to the boat with the best two weighing 6lb4oz and 4lb 8oz respectively. Regular visitor Colin England also had a great day with 20 fish to the boat, the best being 4lb. The best bank areas have been the North shore, dictated predominantly by the consistent wind direction. Toft Shallows has also produced some big catches, towards the bird hide corner. The tower bank is consistently producing over wintered fish each week. Boats have produced fish all over the lake, though predominantly Toft Shallows and the North Shore, due to sheltering from the cold winds. The best methods remain with the lures, however this week has seen a noticeable increase in fish being caught on buzzers, especially red ones. In the more sheltered bays reports of good buzzer hatches have been coming in. Forthcoming events – July Saturday 13th – Rio Master Boat Pairs(fish with your chosen partner) - £1000 tackle prize for 1st place. Prizes to 10th place. Entry fee £25 + fishing fees. Again, Draycote Water has continued with its rich form, despite the continuous cold weather. The fish have remained with their noses to the ground, with only a few venturing to the surface with, at times, good buzzer hatches. The best tactics remain fast sinking lines and short leaders from the boats, and intermediate lines from the bank. This weekend is promising somewhat normal weather for this time of year, so this could make things interesting !! Best flies have been tequila blobs, orange blobs, and boobies from the boats, and the banks have done well with Pitsford Pea lures, cats whiskers, blobs, and some weighted nymphs. Despite the cold weather Draycote has continued to produce top quality fishing. The relentless east to north east winds has certainly taken the edge off the temperature, yet the fish are still in the mood to chase. Kevin Appleton from Oakham fished with England International Sheena Goode, his first time at Draycote. Between them they managed 38 fish to the boat, with the best fish weighing approx 4.5lb. They took their haul on Di-5 lines and fab blobs and a pitsford pea lure. Ellerdine’s Ed and his brother also visited Draycote. They too had in excess of 20 fish between them. Mr M Nicol recorded the best fish of the week, an 8lb rainbow. Plenty of anglers recorded fish weighing over 4lb, most of which were over wintered fish. Worcestershire’s David Hoppe landed a cracking over wintered fish on Friday weighing around 5.5lb. This was taken off the cornfields on a midge tip line and buzzer. Sunday saw the Airflo world masters bank competition. David Hoppe was the overall winner, with 12 fish from the bank, the biggest about 4lb(all but 1 fish returned). North East’s Peter Appleby took the 2nd qualifying spot with 9 fish. Peter landed some cracking over wintered fish, the biggest nearing 5lb. As for areas, it has to be said the whole lake is producing, both bank and boat. Whilst aiding a beginner yesterday, I managed myself 8 fish in under 30 minutes from a boat along the dam wall in front of the lodge – an area anglers rarely stop to fish !! The best flies are Gold head damsels, cats whiskers, Orange Fabs, Tequila blobs and small boobies. The best lines have been intermediates from the bank and di-5 and di-7 from the boats, with short leaders allowing the flies to get down. With the weather forecast to break for the better in 8 days time, the forthcoming weeks promise to be fantastic !! Draycote Competition Dates Rio masters boat pairs – Saturday 13th July – floating line only- entry fee £50 per pair. £1000 PAIRS MATCH – Sunday August 4th - Floating line only £1000 pairs match – Sunday 13th October – Reservoir rules To reserve a boat for the above competitions please call the fishing lodge on 01788 812018

With a rod average still over 10, the lake continues to fish all over.
The banks have produced some outstanding catches, with many over wintered fish being caught. Peter Elliot has today had in excess of 40 fish off the bank – I even managed one with 1 cast of his rod !! The boats, those that have braved the extreme conditions, have also done exceptionally well. John Hoskins, accustomed to the cold, has today been out and taken over 30 fish, 9 of which he said were over wintered “beauties”. John was fishing a sinking line and a hot coral Mini Bite booby(flash attack flies). His partner, fishery staff member, Kevin Hart had 16 fish on nymphs. With the weather now looking more favourable this weekend, albeit still below the seasonal norm, the Easter breaks weather looks promising for a good days fishing. Best areas have been all parts of the lake, and the best flies have been gold head damsels, Pitsford Peas, boobies, and blobs. Draycote weekly report 24/03/2013
I am sure the saying for March is “comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb”. I think this phrase needs to be re-written after the last few day’s weather. Bitterly cold winds and driving snow has certainly put a dampener on the fishing, however those that did venture out had a bounty of fish as the rod average hit a staggering 17 fish per angler !! Welsh International angler David Hoppe managed 25 + fish to the bank on the 23rd, whilst Keith Eastbury also managed 17 fish, whilst fishing A damsel, buzzer and hares ear on his cast. John Hoskins managed the best fish of the week, a fin perfect bar of silver rainbow. John took the fish on a dancer booby from the Flash Attack range of flies. His 8 fish went a fantastic 33lb ! Reports are coming in of periods of times during the day when over wintered fish are going on the feed and are moving close to the shores. Loren Serrano from Leicester has had numerous over wintered fish this week from the bank, including several to 5lb’s.
The bank remains in outstanding form, as fish continue to be caught at every fishable point on the banks. Floating lines have worked well with a gold head lure and a team of nymphs on the same cast. Intermediate lines have also produced plenty of fish, mainly using such lures as blobs, boobies and gold heads. Boats have also produced amazing catches. J.H Hurst caught 37 in a day’s fishing, drifting along the Biggin Bay, using sinking lines and lures. Today(25th-March) the snow and the freezing conditions have forced us to stop boat fishing for the day, although we predict all things to resume as normal tomorrow. The perimeter road is totally clear of snow, and access is perfectly ok around the lake.
We now have the dates for our competitions on Draycote Water. Our matches are held on a fun and friendly basis, and everyone is welcomed to enter. JULY 13TH IS THE RIO MASTERS BOAT PAIRS COMPETITION. Prizes will run down to 10th place, with the winners winning a £1000 worth of Rio tackle. Entry is £50 per pair + normal fishing costs. A deposit will be needed at point of booking . The best pairs combined bag weights will win £1000 cash (subject to number of entrants) Entry fee per pair will be £50 + normal fishing fees. Boat pairings will be drawn the evening before. OCTOBER 13th the 2nd £1000(subject to number of entrants) boat pairs match. This competition will be fished to reservoir rules, and you will fish with your chosen partner. Draycote has continued in magnificent form this week as both bank and boat anglers have had fantastic catches. Top river and reservoir angler John Emerson visited Draycote for the first time and had what he described as an incredible day from the bank, losing count of how many fish he caught ! During his session he had 5 over wintered rainbows and the biggest was nearing 6.5lb. John was being photographed for the Total Flyfisher magazine. The weather has remained cold, with rather persistent North to North East winds. The cold has not hampered the fish however as the rod average still remains above 10 fish per angler ! The best areas from the bank have been the whole length of the North bank, from Toft Shallows to the tower, and when the wind has been right, Rainbow Corner. The boats have produced fish practically anywhere you choose to stop. Sinking lines have generally been the most productive, however those choosing to fish with floating lines have had some excellent sport on buzzers. The best flies have been orange blobs, gold head lures, boobies, and buzzers. The best lines are Di-5, Di-7 and intermediate lines, with floating lines scoring best from the banks.
Bank fishing commences at 7.30am and boats are available from 8am. To book a boat please call the fishing lodge on 01788 812018. Remember when booking a boat to ask for your customer loyalty card as every 9th boat will be FREE !

This last week has certainly seen our weather in turmoil once again, with wind rain and snow at times. The fishing on the other hand has remained top drawer, with the fishery average this week in excess of 15 ! The biggest fish recorded was by Mr G Preston of Leicester, a very nice 6lb 3oz rainbow. Over 15 fish of 4lb+ were also recorded. The fish, for the majority of the time have still been pretty deep, with Di-5 and Di-7 lines being the way forward. The fish have moved now and again on the slightly milder days(6 degrees!!) as small black buzzers have emerged. Steve Mcgregor and and his father from Scotland visited for the first time this season and they had a rod average over the 2 days of 15 fish, including his father !!!! They used sinking lines and a combination of blobs and boobies and big lures. The fish have remained quite tight to the banks with the bank fishing producing some excellent catches. Season ticket holder Mr Serrano from Leicester has been catching plenty of fish on a slow sinking line and goldhead lures. The boats have also enjoyed exceptional sport around the lake fishing within 100yards of all banks, using sinking lines and boobies, gold heads and blobs. With warmer weather predicted for later this week, the fishing should improve again. The best lines have been D-5 and Di-7. The best flies have been – orange blobs, woofter boobies, tequila boobies, cats whisker boobies, blue flash damsels and various gold head lures Best areas – the whole lake. Draycote has continued in great form despite the arctic weather we recently experienced. Those that did brave the cold caught exceptionally well. Mr S Smith had in excess of 20 from the bank on a floating line, amidst several snow storms! Staff member Kevin Hart also landed a hatful fishing nymphs on a floating line. The reservoir remains at full capacity and the water clarity is brilliant. The fish literally are all over the reservoir with all areas still producing. Lures are still the anglers top choice, though buzzers are starting to work their magic too! Di-7 to Di-3 lines have been best from the boats, though If anchored an intermediate has been just as effective. The best boat areas have been from the tower right to the bottom of Toft Shallows, though other areas have been excellent as well. The bank has been scintillating as fish have been caught at every available bank space around the lake. The predominant North to Northeast wind has seen most anglers fishing the North bank, however on days with lighter winds anglers have fished Toft and Rainbow Corner and caught very well. Gold head damsels, orange blobs, black and green lures, and buzzers have been the best flies from the bank. Anglers have reported some good over wintered fish being caught, with two rainbows over 6lb been recorded this week. A further recent stocking of fish will boost things for the weekend. If you want to catch fish then Draycote Water is the place to be with a rod average still above 10 ! To book a boat and bank car pass please call the fishing lodge on 01788 812018. Visit our tuition web page for further details www.flyfishtuition.co.uk Tight Lines Opening week report 10/03/2013 Draycote’s open week got off to a spectacular start, with the majority of anglers reporting superb sport. Fish had been stocked all over the lake pre-season and this showed as anglers caught all around the 600 acre lake. Opening day’s weather was warmer than the Balearics, as some anglers wore only t-shirts, a far cry from this precise moment as we have blizzard conditions and temperatures of 0 degrees! Fish were caught on the usual early season suspects, black and green lures, orange blobs and boobies, however those anglers who chose to buck the trend caught well on buzzers. Andy Axon had the best recorded bag on opening day, with his 8 fish weighing 26lb. Bob Church who fished with Andy also managed 6 fish to the boat. Local angler Tom Morris stole the show with a cracking brown trout of an estimated 13-14lb. He caught the brown towards the middle of the lake and it fell to a Flash Attack Tube Fly, fished on a DI-3 line. After catching plenty of stockies he chose to fish the middle of the lake in search of a bigger fish – he certainly got that right !! The fish was safely returned to the lake. Both bank and boats have fished tremendously during the first week. Mr G Owen returned a brown estimated at 7lb, James Cameron landed a personal best of 6lb, and one angler returned a brown measuring 28” long. Total rods for the week 253 Total number of fish killed 897 Total number of fish released 2599 Rod average for the week – 13.8 The lake is at 100% level and visibility is excellent. Boats can be booked in advance by calling the fishing lodge on 01788 812018. Ifor It only seems five minutes from when I was last writing the first year end report for Fishery Managements first year in charge of Draycote Water, yet, here we are again in what seems a blink of an eye. Operating from our new tackle shop, and the inclusion of some new toilets, the site is now fully equipped for the visiting angler. The opening of the cafe above the fishing lodge is also now due for early 2013! The fishing was overall excellent throughout the season, however the buzzer hatch, although still fantastic, was not as prolific as our first season. We were all to aware of the dreadful weather we were faced with for what seemed to be a good part of the season, coupled with very windy conditions. This certainly hampered the fishing on more than one occasion, and made the buzzer fishing difficult at times. As the season progressed the fishing improved, with one week reaching an incredible rod average of 7 , and only on a couple of occasions dipped below 4 ! The bank fishing remained superb pretty much all season, with only a 3 week spell in August where things slowed noticeably, however improved pretty quickly afterwards. No one could have predicted the rainfall that was to greet us towards the back end of the season. It was only months earlier there was a hose pipe ban in southern parts of Britain. The much needed water has now all but filled the reservoir. The much awaited fry turned up in there tens of thousands by late September, sparking a fishing frenzy with minkies, which lasted for around 3 weeks. Rapid increasing water levels impacted on the fry close to the margins, and the fry disappeared, presumably into deeper water. The fish then turned to snails on the weed, still close to the shores. The bank fishing was then better than the boat fishing, with many anglers 8 fish limits taken daily. The biggest brown trout for the 2012 season was a very nice fish of 10lb 8oz. This was taken on a tube fly near the boils. The best rainbow of the season was only 7lb 11oz, and was taken on a buzzer from Rainbow corner. I used the word only, as I had several anglers over the season tell me of the "big one" that got away that surpassed that by miles !!!! (so they told me)! The best bag of 16 fish was an incredible 68lb ! Again, two regular rudder fisherman also claimed they had a bag bigger than that one day ! The 2013 opening date is Tuesday March the 5th. With the reservoir almost certainly at brimming point, I predict the buzzer hatch to be at it best again, offering nothing short of world class buzzer fishing. A good head of fish still remain in the lake and with our continued stocking policy, the outlook looks very healthy indeed ! You can now shop online at our new online shop www.flyfishdraycote.co.uk Here you will also find our weekly fishery reports. The tackle shop will be opening throughout the close season, however we suggest you ring first if you intend to visit us. 2012 Statistics Biggest brown trout 10lb 8oz Biggest rainbow trout 7lb 11oz Biggest bag limit 16 fish 68lb Number of fish killed 17,503 Number of fish released 38,512 Season overall weekly rod average 4.8 All staff at Draycote water wish you a great Christmas and New Year, and thank you for your custom in 2012, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2013. Tight Lines Craig Barr Draycote weekly report week ending 18th November
The fishing this last week has slowed, mainly due to frosty nights and cold winds. The fish around the margins do appear to have shifted further out into deeper water, however some fish are still closer in, feeding around the dense weed, picking off fresh water shrimp and corixa.
The water level is now almost at full capacity and this too has hindered the bank fishing in some areas. Those who have fished from the boats have found the fish to be deep down. Di 5 or Di-7 lines have worked best, with short leaders and big fry lures being the favoured method. One angler this weekend went against the grain, by taking four fish on a floating line on weighted nymphs !
Mr Seven recorded the best boat bag this week with 8 fish weighing 26.5lb. He was fishing the rudder along the tower bank to Biggin Bay.Taffy recorded the best fish of the week, a cracking 8lb 4oz brown, also taken on the rudder off the Farborough spit. The fish was safely returned to the water.
The best flies have been minkies and humungous lures – however do not rule out the nymphs !!
This Sunday all the boats are booked for the annual fur and feather Christmas competition. This competition starts at 9.00am !!
